Finishing the game

Now that the bulk of the game is functional, it is time to add the finishing touches to the game. First thing to do is have a delay at the start of each level. This delay displays the date. The date is the level. The game starts on the 20th and ends on the 24th. To determine the day, we simply add 19 to the level.

The win and lose screens are separate scenes which simply have the winning or losing message. There is a third BigLose screen that players who purposely target santa will uncover. To see this screen the player needs to have a negative score. This is not as hard as it sounds, as hitting Santa deducts a point from your score, so if you only throw snowballs at Santa it is easy to see this screen.

The title screen was simply taking the title graphics and having it initially scaled up then have the image follow a motion guide while scaling down to the final size.

For sound, I simply took my palm (it has a voice recorder built into it) outside and recorded real snowballs. Music comes from a public domain song being converted to a mp3 file. This can be done with any number of mp3 encoding programs (many are freeware or open source).

Finally, the credits and instructions screens are simply scenes that contain static images and text with my generic continue button that One of those Week fans are already familiar with.

If you do modify the open source version of this game, I would love to see the results.
