Overview

Flappy Bird was a surprising success but that success came with a large cost as false accusations and hate mail/tweets were sent to the creator of that game. This drove the creator to remove the game but in honor of that game and to remind people that hatred shouldn't win, the Flappy Jam was created. This game is my entry into that challenge. It is also my first Unity game.

This game is very simple. You control the bird. This bird was inspired by a famous red bird from another game but the artwork is entirely my own. This bird must avoid running into spikes and pipes. These are also my own artwork. While the pipe looks similar to the one from a famous plumbing game, it is not only my own art but was created in 37 seconds. A non-artist creating the pipes in only 37 seconds is a very clear indication of how mindbogglingly far out of proportion all the people who complained about the pipes in Flappy Bird took things. Press any key on the keyboard, click the mouse button, or touch the screen (if you have touch support) to flap. The longer you hold down the more power you get but remember that there are spikes above you. The more carefully you control your flapping the further you can get. Medals are rewarded based on how close you get to the highest score.
