Episode 10: Modern Tanks

Battle your friends.

Page Last Updated: April 1, 2006

Introduction

You and some of your friends have found some long range water cannons and have decided to have the ultimate water battle. The group of you will now spread out and launch water bombs at each other. This time, however you are playing on a very large field instead of on a street and are well spread out.

Playing the Game

When the title screen appears, you have a lot of options for setting up a new game.

The first option you have is controlling the number of players and what type of players they will be. There are eight colors of tank that you can choose from. Selecting a tank to be "none" indicates that the tank will not appear in the game. Selecting it to be human means that a human will have to decide how that tank will fire when it is that players turn. This makes it possible to play this game with your friends on the same computer (commonly referred to as hot seating). If you don't want to play against another human, you can have the computer control the other tanks. Setting a tank to dumb means the computer will fire randomly. Setting a tank to smart means that the computer will target a tank and slowly figure out how to destroy the tank. You can also control the size of the explosion radius. There are three sizes to choose from.

The game cycles through turns until there is only one player left or only computer players left. All the tanks are shown on the screen. The scale of the field is so large, however, that the tanks are only tiny dots. To make it easier to see the tanks, all of the tanks have a circle that surrounds them. Likewise, the projectile has a circle around it.

Within your turn you have many things you can do. You can turn the tank and move the tank by using the top controls. Beneath the stearing controls are your aiming controls. Clicking in the boxes changes the angle you are aiming at. The left box is for controlling the direction you are firing in, while the right box is for controlling the turret angle. Beneath the turrets are buttons for controlling the power of the shot. Once you have entered your move hit the done button.
