Level 2: Monsters

This level introduces your enemy. Mindless Man-eating Slime. The slime is not too bright (after all, it is mindless) but it is very persistent. The best way of dealing with slime in this game is understanding the way slime thinks. The solution to this level takes advantage of how the slime thinks to easily solve the level.

First thing you have to do is quickly run and grab the portable hole in the center of the bottom platform that you start on. You will notice that the slime already are quickly making their way down to you. Slime can detect your presence, so they will always try to get to the same level that you are on.

Next you want to get that energy crystal in the far right corner. You will see why in a moment, but don’t dilly-dally as those slimes do mean business. Once you have the crystal, climb the ladder, move to the left one space and then drop a hole to the left. Now you wait for the slime to catch up with you. Notice that when the slime goes over the portable hole, both the hole and the slime are destroyed. This can be a bad thing if you are not careful, as the hole you just created could be in a location that prevents you from solving the level. In this case, however, the hole is in a very strategic location.

The other slime will try to reach you by walking over the empty space and falling to the level below. It will then move to the ladder that you are beside and start climbing it. When the slime is over half way up the ladder, jump through the hole and quickly run to the ladder in the middle of the platform and climb it. If you are fast enough, the slime will go back to the ladder on the right and climb it, putting the slime in a perpetual loop of climbing and falling. Why? The slime wants to be on the same level as you, so it takes the shortest path to the level that you are on. Once on the same level as you, it will move towards you. What we have done for this level is tricked the slime into going on a perpetual loop. If you weren’t fast enough to get the slime looping, you have two choices. First, you could try again by running to the hole and jumping in. The easier solution is to race for the other hole and use it on the slime by laying a hole in the slime’s path.

Once the slimes have been dealt with, you simply need to work your way to the top platform and grab the remaining two gems then run to the exit. If you never picked up the gem on the bottom, then you are going to have a bit of a challenge getting it. The best way is to lure the slime up the middle ladder then climbing the ladder, jumping down the hole and making a run for it.
