Episode 26: Modern 5D8

A simple game using Eight Sided Dice

Page Last Updated: April 1, 2006

Introduction

created this game quite a while ago when I was dog/house sitting for my aunt. I based this game on the many different dice games that I seen for 6 sided dice. 8 sided dice are fairly common for many board based role-playing games. A dice game based around 8 sided dice. 8 sided dice look like diamonds and generate a number between 1 and 8. Your goal is to roll 5 of these dice in an attempt to form specific combinations of which there are 17.

Playing the Game

Five dice are rolled. You are allowed to re-roll some or all of the dice up to three times (for a total of four rolls). To re-roll, simply use the five checkboxes and place X's in the dice that you wish to KEEP. If you want to keep all the dice you can forfit the remaining rolls by simply selecting the slot you wish to use for the roll.

Once the four rolls have been made, you then select the score slot to place the roll into. Each of the 17 slots can only be used once. The game continues until all 17 slots
are filled.

System Requirements

This game is requires Java 1.1 or better to run. Browsers that support 1.1 tend to be 4.x or better versions. Windows XP users may have to download a Java plug in to use Java applets.
