General Game play

This game is a point and click style adventure game. You perform actions in the game by clicking on the screen. Doors and arrows lead you to new locations. Items can be picked up by clicking on them. The goal of each episode varies, but together the episodes form a larger story.

Navigation

Normally navigation is done by clicking on doors or arrows that indicate you can move in a different direction. Some of the episodes, however, are slightly different in how they are navigated. In episode 6 and 7, you navigate through the cubicle maze in 3D by using the cursor keys. Up moves you forward, while left and right turn you left and right. In episode 9 you drive a vehicle, which has a wheel on the right side of the screen where you can move forward, turn left on an upcoming intersection, or turn right on the upcoming intersection.

Wallets and Inventory

Unlike later day's episodes, the first day's episodes tended to place money and inventory items in the top left corner of the screen. Money is in Canadian Dollars. Items get placed in inventory and can be used by clicking on them. When using an item you will be prompted on which object in the room you wish to use the item on. This prompt appears in the inventory box and if you change your mind about using the item, then you can click on the cancel button to cancel the use of the item.

Conversations

By conversations, I am referring to both talks with other people, in which what they are saying to you appears in a circular balloon, and with thoughts that you have which appear in a cloud. In the first three day's worth of episodes, there are up to three blue buttons with options on how to continue the conversation. You must select one of the buttons to continue the conversation.

Walk through

While you can play through the episodes in any order, and skip episodes if you are having problems completing the episode, you should play through the episodes in order to get the most enjoyment from this game. Some of the puzzles can be difficult, so as I make the open source versions of the games available, I am putting a walk through in my Making of One of those Weeks eBook (accessible through the articles tab) so you can simply go to the chapter that has the same number as the episode you are having problems with in order to get the solution to the episode. You can also find out how the game was put together if you are curious.
